About Jill Sharp, RN

Jill became a licensed Registered Nurse in 2020 but she has been in the health care setting for many years. From 2008 to 2015, Jill worked for a freestanding women’s health and birth center in Boise, Idaho. She started as the office manager, became a midwife's apprentice, stopped just short of achieving licensure, and ended that career as the Administrative Director. Jill, along with many others across the State, lobbied the Idaho Legislature to pass a bill to license direct-entry midwives. The bill passed and became law in 2011. Jill went on to serve on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Midwifery Council and was nominated to become facilitator between the medical and midwifery community and provide education about the licensure law and Licensed Midwife scope of practice.

In 2015, Jill began to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During this time she achieved Honorable Mention for a poem which was published in a the literary magazine Basalt; was invited to the honor societies Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Theta Kappa; was dual enrolled at the School of Nursing and the Honors College; invited for a Poster Presentation for Research Abstract at the Western Institute of Nursing; received the Graduating Student Leader Award, and graduated summa cum laude.

On March 27, 2020 Jill was awarded a Graduate Temporary License issued by the State of Idaho under a state of emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic. During her senior year of nursing school Jill earned a coveted placement at the Boise VA Medical Center as a VALOR nurse apprentice and was placed on the Medical/Surgical ward. Once she was licensed, she was able to immediately transition to practice. In July 2020, she started a RN-Residency program at the Boise VA and was placed on the Step-Down/Telemetry ward. For the next year she entered rotations in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Wound Care clinic, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Device clinic, and Primary Care. In July of 2022, Jill chose to leave the inpatient acute care setting for outpatient primary care in the role of Registered Nurse Care Manager. In this role, Jill specializes as a care coordinator and chronic disease management.

To compliment Jill’s diverse collection of health care experience, she also has personal experience with chronic health challenges. At the age of 19 Jill was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since then, she has received various diagnoses: Chronic fatigue syndrome, Hashimoto’s, Pre-Diabetes Type II, and most recently Sjogren’s disease. Jill endures migraines, joint pain, and a long list of other complaints.

But there’s good news! After many failed treatments, including chemotherapy, Jill decided to depart from medical care to explore food and mobility as a treatment modality. Over time, Jill was able to experience compelling healing and a drastic improvement in the quality of her life. At the age of 40, having never been an athlete, Jill started training in the martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This experience has fundamentally changed her life and she is still training 8 years later at the level of purple belt.

Together, she and her husband operate Paul Sharp Coaching, LLC. With a mission to build strong, disciplined, capable women and men, they travel around the country teaching a variety of seminars.
